This is an eight week therapy course that is based on a book called ‘Overcoming Low Self-Esteem’ by Melanie Fennell. A leading CBT therapist, she has developed a way of understanding low self esteem that links past experiences with self critical thinking, low mood and anxiety, all of which help to maintain and reinforce low self-esteem.
This course teaches people to notice unhelpful thinking and behaviour, and encourages them to experiment with more helpful thinking, that is kinder and more self-valuing. This is delivered in a group and involves teaching, information to take home, group discussion and people are asked to practice some of the ideas between sessions.
